  2. Differentiate between adaptive anxiety responses and maladaptive anxiety patterns that contribute to chronic distress and functional impairment.

  3. Apply body-based regulation strategies (e.g., breathing, grounding, muscle release) to help clients downshift physiological activation associated with anxiety.
  4. Explain how perceived safety and internal “secure base” experiences support anxiety reduction and nervous system stabilization.

  5. Identify common cognitive distortions associated with anxiety and implement cognitive interventions to address catastrophic thinking and worry loops.

  6. Utilize principles of positive neuroplasticity to help clients install healthier beliefs and emotional experiences related to calm, competence, and resilience.

  7. Assess how avoidance behaviors maintain anxiety and design gradual, titrated behavioral approaches to help clients safely approach feared situations.

  8. Integrate acceptance-based strategies to reduce experiential avoidance and increase psychological flexibility in anxious clients.

  9. Recognize the impact of early attachment experiences and developmental learning on adult anxiety presentations.

  10. Identify common ways anxiety affects relationships, including communication patterns and boundary challenges.
